What will you do?
Provide support to Stroke Care team and shadow team members as needed. The Stoke Care intern will be involved with daily tasks and project work which will give the intern gainful experience in the healthcare and rehabilitation.
The emphasis will be on gaining exposure to what the different types of therapists do through providing hands on assistance to the therapist as it relates to patient care. For example, if a therapist is working with a patient who needs to re-learn walking skills, may ask you to push the wheelchair behind the patient while the patient is up and walking so that if the patient needs to take a break, the wheelchair will be right there with them. Or, you may be needing a second set of hands to physically assist the therapist in doing something with a patient. It’s possible you may be asked to assist with infection prevention by spraying down a mat after the patient session or something along those lines, but the emphasis will not be on “cleaning”. It will be on hands on assist to a physical therapist or an occupational therapist.
This is a PAID internship.
