SUMMARY
The ideal candidate will provide superior service to guests in various food venues located around the zoo. The candidate will follow all safety and sanitation procedures to ensure they provide guests with a quality product. They must work efficiently and accurately when handling cash to ensure the guest has a great experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide friendly and efficient service to all visitors.
Be responsible for cash drawer and all daily transactions.
Prepare quality food at all times.
Uphold all safety and food sanitation procedures.
Ensure guest satisfaction at all times.
Perform various cleaning and stocking as needed.
Perform any other duties requested by management that are in the best interest of the zoo.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
There are no supervisory responsibilities for this position.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to interact positively and appropriately with coworkers, supervisors, managers, Zoo patrons, contractors, concessionaires and members of the general public with diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
Demonstrated ability to accurately count and distribute cash.
Excellent customer service skills, comfortable and skilled in creating positive face-to-face interactions.
Must pass various background checks as well as drug test.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Must be a minimum of 15 years of age
Must have cash handling experience
Knowledge of food service practices and procedures.
Superior guest service skills
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Ability to work irregular hours including evening, weekends and holidays.
Must be able to tolerate exposure to dust, dirt, pollen and other airborne contaminants and occasional exposure to inclement weather, high humidity, and to extreme hot and cold temperatures. Must be able to tolerate exposure to anti-bacterials, disinfectants and other cleaning compounds.
TECHNOLOGY SKILLS
Ability to learn Point of Sale system
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to make sound judgments.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to remain active for an entire shift, standing, sitting, walking, and climbing stairs. Employee will use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear, reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 30 pounds.
Must have sufficient mobility with or without assistive devices to access all areas of outdoor and indoor attractions at the Zoo.
Must be able to work in somewhat close proximity to exotic and domestic animals and tolerate exposure to animal dander, animal wastes and other zoonotic contaminants as well as dust, dirt, pollen and other airborne contaminants and occasional exposure to inclement weather, high humidity, and to extreme hot and cold temperatures.
Ability to work irregular hours including evening, weekends and holidays.
