Company History
Forty years ago, Bill Strickland created a model for addressing high school dropout rates and
unemployment through his organization, Manchester Bidwell in Pittsburgh. A MacArthur
Genius Award Honoree, Mr. Strickland shared his story nationally. In 2004, a team of business
leaders in West Michigan, including leaders of Steelcase and Amway, led a campaign to open
the West Michigan Center for Arts + Technology (WMCAT) as one of the first sites inspired by
the Manchester Bidwell model.

Placements require a financial obligation of $1,600 for each youth under 18 years old, and $2,000 for each intern 18 or older. Please indicate if you are a nonprofit organization and need wage assistance.:
