The City of Grand Rapids Archives is looking for an intern to assist with various duties at our facility. The City of Grand Rapids Archives is part of the City Clerk's Office and stores all the City's government records. We make sure they’re preserved and accessible to citizens and employees for research purposes. Our records date from 1838 to the present and includes City Commission records, historic photographs, historic maps, building plans, tax records, court records, and other related records. We also have the historic archive for the Grand Rapids Public Schools, which includes records from the late 19th Century to the present.
Interns will be responsible for assisting with requests, data entry, moving boxes of records, scanning historical images, and other duties as needed. All interns will be trained by staff and some of the software we use includes Access, Excel, and Word. It is beneficial if you have experience, but it is not necessary.
